Puzzle Printly is a progressive web app, which means installing it adds an icon to your home screen or desktop and opens the site in its own window without a browser address bar. It does not download anything from an app store, it does not ask for permissions, and it does not run in the background.
The practical difference is speed and offline capability. Core pages and the puzzle generators are cached on first visit, so the makers keep working without a connection. That matters on a plane, in a car, or in a school building with unreliable wifi. Generating and printing a puzzle offline works exactly as it does online, because the generators run in your browser rather than on a server.
iPhone and iPad. Open the site in Safari, tap the Share button, scroll down, and tap Add to Home Screen. Other browsers on iOS cannot install web apps, so Safari is required for this step even if you use something else normally.
Android. Open in Chrome and tap the Install or Add to Home Screen prompt when it appears, or open the three-dot menu and choose Install app.
Windows and Mac desktop. In Chrome or Edge, look for the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the three-dot menu and choose Install. In Safari on Mac, use File then Add to Dock.
If no install option appears, the browser either does not support it or the site is not fully loaded yet. Reload once and check again.
Printing works the same way it does in a browser. Use the Print button on any puzzle page, which opens your system print dialogue and strips navigation, buttons, and ads automatically so only the puzzle prints.
On a phone or tablet, the same button offers Save as PDF, which is frequently more useful than printing directly. Save the PDF, email it to yourself or a school printer, and print later. That workflow suits teachers preparing a set at home for printing at work.
The cached files take a few megabytes at most. Updates apply automatically the next time you open the app with a connection, so there is nothing to check or download.
Nothing you type is stored. Word lists entered into the makers exist only while the page is open and are never sent anywhere, whether you are installed or not. Removing the app is the same as deleting any icon: press and hold on mobile, or uninstall from the browser's app list on desktop. Nothing is left behind.
